Presentation
Bernard and Murielle Marchand have been winemakers for a long time: Bernard has been working in the vineyards since 1985 and in 2008, they became owners of Château du Peuil, which is currently being passed on to their son. The estate, marked by a millennial viticultural history, takes its name from a limestone stele engraved with "DOMINI VINE ET HOMINORUM LABOR" and its location on the top of a west-facing hillside, overlooking the Gironde Estuary (Latin Podium).
Terroir
The vineyard is located on a clay-limestone soil facing the estuary, which allows to offer an incredible richness to the vine on a daily basis. All the conditions are therefore met to offer quality vintages combining subtlety and power.
Winemaking
Traditional vinification with three weeks of fermentation, marked by pump-overs to manage extraction. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out at around 24°C to encourage greater extraction and build texture.
Ageing
Breeding is carried out over a period of 12 months to obtain melted tannins and a round and smooth texture.
Varietal
Merlot
